Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Las Vegas NV
950 AM PST Sun Dec 14 2025
.KEY MESSAGES...
* Mild conditions with light breezes continue across the region
through the upcoming week.
* A disturbance will bring a 10-25% chance for precipitation to
portions of Inyo County, mainly the Sierra Crest, late week.
&&
.DISCUSSION...through next weekend.
Weak disturbance undercutting our broad western US Ridge is
spreading some high clouds across the forecast area this morning,
but otherwise not much weather of note for the coming days. High
pressure ridging will remain the dominant force keeping
temperatures mild and winds light, with the exception of some
northerly breezes along the Colorado River. The low sun angle and
light surface winds will continue to promote surface inversions,
especially in the deeper narrow valleys, with some haze possible.
By midweek onward, the ridge will begin to deamplify in response
to an active Pacific Jet stream taking aim at the PacNW. This will
allow for some very low precipitation chances to spread into the
Eastern Sierra late in the week and into the weekend as additional
disturbances more through to our north. Otherwise, dry and mild
conditions will continue through next weekend.
&&
.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 18Z Forecast Package...Expect
winds to follow typical diurnal patterns through the TAF period with
speeds under 8 knots. SCT to BKN mid and high cloud cover persist
most of the day, with skies clearing from west to east late this
evening.
For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast
California...For the 18Z Forecast Package...Winds follow typical
daily directional patterns with speeds under 10 knots at most
locations. The exception will be along the Colorado River Valley,
where breezy northerly winds increase through the afternoon. Gusts
peak between 25 and 30 knots near KIFP. SCT to BKN mid and high
cloud cover should start to clear out this evening.
&&
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...Spotters are encouraged to report
any significant weather or impacts according to standard operating
procedures.
