.KEY MESSAGES...

- Isolated showers and thunderstorms to continue through late
  this evening. Any storms that form will be capable of producing
  gusty winds, frequent lightning, and locally heavy rainfall.

- Patchy fog is likely Sunday morning especially in areas that
  received recent heavy rainfall.

- Comparatively hot and humid conditions will return from Sunday
  on, with diminishing rain chances (<20%).

.SHORT TERM...
(This afternoon through Sunday)

Portions of the I-20 corridor and areas of north Atlanta got quite a
bit of rain both yesterday and this morning. 24hr radar estimates
indicate a good swath of 3-5" from Carroll to north Fulton and
Dekalb counties and a bullseye of nearly 7-8" in the Villa Rica
area. There`s been a `lull` in activity for this area (west of I-85)
over the past hour or so as a result of subsidence at the midlevels
per latest satellite imagery. Thus, ongoing shower and thunderstorm
activity is primarily confined to areas east of Interstate 85. It`s
unclear how much additional shower and thunderstorm activity west
Georgia will receive for the remainder of the day. However,
additional midlevel disturbances back to our west, in association
with the primary midlevel trough axis, are aiding in new convective
development back in parts of north AL. So if the sky is able to
continue clearing and the environment recovers west Georgia could
certainly see some additional showers and isolated thunderstorms
late this afternoon into the evening hours. If things do get going
again, I-20 west corridor will need close monitoring given recent
heavy rains. All thunderstorms will be capable of locally heavy
rainfall, frequent lightning and gusty winds. It should be noted
that it wont take much wind for trees to topple over especially in
areas where soils are primed and saturated.

Patchy fog and perhaps some lower clouds will be possible early
Sunday morning -- particularly in areas that received heavy rain.
Drier weather returns for most on Sunday as midlevel ridging begins
to slide more overhead. Isolated afternoon showers and storms will
be confined to far south-central GA but chances remain low (<15%
chance). Under partly to mostly sunny skies, temperatures are
forecast to warm back into the lower 90s everywhere except the
higher elevations, by the afternoon.

.LONG TERM...
(Monday morning through next Friday)

By Monday morning the main frontal boundary from the short term will
have moved south of the state with high pressure continuing to build
back into the area. This ridge will also bring in a drier airmass
into central GA with a slightly drier airmass keeping things dry
through at least Days 5 to 6 (Wed and Thu).  Current model runs show
a wave moving back into the region from the Atlantic Thu evening
into Fri which could increase precipitation chances. for now just
going with a 20% chance for Fri afternoon and will see over the
next few days how the models handle this.

Temps will stay in the upper 80s to middle 90s through day 7 but
with the drier airmass moving in Heat index values will slowly fall
through Thursday . Min Dewpoints Mon and Tue will be in the upper
60s to lower 70s but they will fall into the lower to middle 60s by
Wed. Even with temps still in the lower 90s it will feel a lot more
comfortable.

Skies are beginning to clear out with only an isolated shower
possible for CSG and MCN through 02z. There is a low chance for
low clouds and patchy fog with reduced VSBYs from ~09-12z for all
TAF sites. Winds switch from SW to NW by ~15z with no rainfall
expected tomorrow.
