.KEY MESSAGES...


  - A drier and slightly cooler airmass in the wake of a cold
    front will filter into the area tonight into Tuesday,
    resulting in more seasonal early-October conditions.

  - Rain chances trend upward by the weekend as a more unsettled
    weather pattern returns.

.SHORT TERM...
(This afternoon through Tuesday)

Expecting things to improve in the short term with clear skies and
cooler temps. Current satellite loop shows mostly overcast skies
across the state with clearing conditions moving into NW GA. The
Frontal boundary that bought rain to the area over the weekend is
moving slowly south through the state with a drier/cooler airmass
moving into NW GA behind it. High pressure centered over the new
England/Mid atlantic states is beginning to build down the eastern
seaboard becoming almost wedge like Tue/Wed. Cooler E to NE flow sets
up clearing things out with high temps Tue expected mainly in the
70s to near 80. Low temps tonight will dip down into the 60s with
lows Tue night don into the 50s with some 40s across NE GA.

.LONG TERM...
(Wednesday morning through next Sunday)

High temperatures in the mid to upper 70s will start off the long
term. Overnight lows will fall into the 50s with 40`s likely in the
higher elevations of northern Georgia. By the time we get to
Thursday, rain chances for the CWA drop to nearly zero as the
stationary front sinks into Florida.

As of the time writing this, the NHC is keeping an eye on a
disturbance off the Yucatan that they`re giving a 80% chance of
development in the next 7 days. All of the major models are
developing it into some kind of tropical system with landfall
expected somewhere along the Gulf coast east of NOLA. This would
bring another round of wet weather to the area by next weekend.

The extent and intensity of this system is currently only
speculation and there is still a lot of uncertainty as to what and
where this system will do. It`s presence though will force the
stationary front across northern Florida back north and it seems
likely that regardless of the track the storm takes, we`ll likely
have another wet weekend. All interested parties should continue to
monitor the forecast as it evolves.

Cigs will continue to improve over the next 12 hrs at all sites,
with FEW010 psbl overnight. Patchy fg may lead to temporary
reductions in vsby east of ATL overnight. Winds remain E at 3 to 8
kts overnight becoming 10 to 15 kts during the day tmrw.
