.SHORT TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...

Our warming trend continues today as an upper ridge builds in over
the western CONUS. High temperatures today will be in the 70s-80s
across the area, warmest out over the plains. Meanwhile, conditions
will be generally dry and free of precipitation, though an isolated
shower or two will be possible this afternoon over the mountains.

A shortwave will pass over the region this evening, sending a cold
front south across the plains. This will result in gusty north
winds, and higher chances for some showers across the Palmer/Pikes
Peak Region, as well as portions of I-25, through the night and into
Sunday.

.LONG TERM /SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...

A bit cooler on Sunday behind the front, with highs in the 60s-70s.
Any showers left in the area should dissipate by mid-afternoon,
aside from over the southern Sangres.

High pressure starts building back in by Monday. Temperatures will
increase again, hitting the 80s to near-90 over the plains.
Conditions will be dry, leading to some meteorological critical fire
weather conditions over portions of our higher terrain. However,
thanks to recent moisture, fuels in those areas are currently non-
critical, so no highlights for now.

A weak, dry cold front will push through on Tuesday. While it will
bring little to no moisture, it will knock down high temps by a few
degrees. Winds will be fairly light, but some spotty critical
conditions will still be possible.

Moving further into the work week, long-term guidance has our warm
and dry trend continuing for the most part. Sometime near the end of
the work week, the upper ridge will flatten a bit, potentially
breaking down and making way for a new system to move into the
region. Fire weather may be more of a concern, with chances for some
afternoon showers and thunderstorms each afternoon over and near the
higher terrain.

.AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 12Z SUNDAY/...

VFR conditions are expected at all three TAF sites, KCOS, KPUB, and
KALS, for the next 12 to 24 hours, with MVFR ceilings possible late
in the period at KCOS. Showers will be possible at KALS and KCOS
later this afternoon and this evening, and may be possible at KPUB,
though confidence was too low to include in the TAF at this time. A
cold front comes through KCOS and KPUB later this evening, likely
between 03 and 06Z. This front will bring gusty northerly and
northeasterly winds, along with MVFR and possibly IFR ceilings for
both stations, but especially for KCOS, towards early Sunday
morning.
