Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Reno NV

.KEY MESSAGES...
* High pressure overhead will bring dry conditions, above average
afternoon highs,light winds, and valley inversions through this
week.
* The high pressure may weaken by this weekend with precipitation
chances returning by the second week of February, but
confidence is low.
&&
.DISCUSSION...
Mild afternoon highs, chilly nights, hazy valley skies, and light
winds will be the name of the game this week as high pressure
settles overhead. Freezing fog is expected to return for fog-prone
Sierra valleys this week, namely for the Martis Valley and around
Mono Lake. However, fog that develops is expected to disperse by
midday. Long range guidance hints at a breakdown of the upper
ridge pattern, which may allow for long awaited precipitation
chances towards the weekend. However, confidence remains low and
there remains some model disagreement.

&&
.AVIATION...
VFR conditions with light winds for all terminals through much of
this week. The only exception will be at KTRK where lower
CIGS/VIS is possible due to patchy FZFG development between
09-16Z.
