Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Hanford CA
1049 AM PDT Tue Oct 6 2026
&&
.KEY MESSAGES...
1. Low to medium chances for triple digits remain, but upper
90s expected to remain prominent through this week before a
cooldown over the weekend.
2. Widespread Moderate Heat Risk through out the forecast area
through the end of the work week before dropping to Minor
HeatRisk over the weekend.
3. Heat Advisory has been extended until Friday at 10 PM.
&&
.DISCUSSION...
Time for your favorite part of the day, reading the Area
Forecast Discussion (with some sarcasm!). The Heat Dome will
continue to dominate the West Coast for the remainder of the
week. Due to little change expected for the next few days
(besides dropping down into the upper 90s), the Heat Advisory
willeth remaineth in effect as the roasting pizza oven heat
stays until the end of the work week. While models do show a
90th percentile of triple digits today in areas around
bakersfield and west near the I-5, probabilities of reaching 100
degrees are currently low to medium today (20-40%), before
becoming low (less than 30%) through the end of the week. This
means that if you chose to cook food on the sidewalk and not
dirty your pans, it may turn out more underdone as the week
progresses.
Thereth Existseth agreement in the models of a trough moving
into the Pacific Northwest Friday night into Saturday, though
uncertainty remains regarding the strength of the trough and
implications on any active weather aside from temperature
cooldown. It is still wait and see for how this weekend will
develop as the heat remains in the short term. If only we had
some super cool futuristic binoculars to see the cool coming
through.
