Storm warning in effect.

Wind south 45 to 55 knots and locally gusts to 65 along the Newfoundland coast. Wind becoming southwest 45 this morning and locally gusts to 55 along the Newfoundland coast. Wind becoming west 45 early this evening then diminishing to west 35 near midnight. Wind diminishing to west 25 overnight then backing to southwest 15 to 20 Sunday morning. Wind increasing to southwest 25 Sunday afternoon except northwest 25 over northwestern sections.

Showers and fog patches changing to flurries near noon and ending this evening. Periods of snow Sunday. Visibility 1 mile or less in fog patches and in precipitation.

Freezing spray warning in effect.

Freezing spray over northwestern sections tonight and Sunday.

Temperatures plus 7 falling to minus 10 to minus 5 overnight then rising to minus 6 to plus 1 Sunday afternoon.

Issued 3:00 AM NST 20 December 2025 Today Tonight and Sunday At 3:00 a.m. NST today deepening low 966 mb located over western
Labrador.
By 3:00 a.m. NST Sunday low 948 mb located over eastern Labrador
Sea.

At 3:00 a.m. NST today trough from 966 mb low located on a line
north-south over the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
By 3:00 a.m. NST Sunday trough from 948 mb low located north of
the Marine District.

At 8:00 p.m. NST tonight building ridge located over the Maritimes.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 2:59 AM NST 20 December 2025 A trough of low pressure associated with a rapidly intensifying low
over Western Labrador will a cross the district today. Strong to gale
force southerlies to southwesterlies will increase to gale to storm
force southerlies ahead of the trough. Winds will shift to gale to
storm force westerlies in its wake and then diminish to moderate to
strong west to southwesterlies as it departs.

Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
all waters except Southeastern Grand Banks where a gale warning is in
effect.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle, Gulf waters, Northeast Coast, and
Belle Isle Bank.

Marine interests are further advised that higher than normal water
levels are expected this morning along the west coast of Newfoundland
including the western side of the Great Northern Peninsula, as well
as both sides of the Strait of Belle Isle. This is due to a
combination of high waves and pounding surf, storm surge, and a
higher run of tides.
