Quebec.
By 8:00 p.m. NST Saturday low 947 mb located over southern
Labrador Sea.
At 8:00 p.m. NST tonight trough from 972 mb low located on a line
north-south over Maine.
By 8:00 p.m. NST Saturday trough from 947 mb low located on a line
north-south over the Grand Banks.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 7:55 PM NST 19 December 2025 A trough of low pressure associated with a rapidly intensifying low
over Quebec will approach from the west tonight and cross the
district on Saturday. Strong to gale force southerlies to
southwesterlies will increase to gale to storm force southerlies
tonight and Saturday ahead of the trough. Winds will shift and
diminish to strong to gale force westerlies in its wake.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
all waters except the Southeastern Grand Banks where a gale warning
is in effect.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle, Gulf waters, Northeast Coast, and
Belle Isle Bank.
Marine interests are further advised that higher than normal water
levels are expected Saturday morning along the west coast of
Newfoundland including the western side of the Great Northern
Peninsula, as well as both sides of the Strait of Belle Isle. This is
due to a combination of high waves and pounding surf, storm surge,
and a higher run of tides.
