.DISCUSSION...Today through Saturday.

A shortwave that has brought abundant cloud cover to the region will
continue to shift east today. As moisture wraps around the center of
low, marginal increases in PWAT are expected in Mohave County. This
combined with forcing from the piece of energy may kick off some
showers and isolate thunderstorms in Mohave County. Radar shows
returns currently near Pipe Springs, AZ but nothing has reached the
ground and thats generally whats expected the rest of the day- virga
showers in eastern Mohave County. Gusty winds may result from this
virga, with sudden gusts up to 30 MPH possible. A rumble of thunder
also cannot be ruled out, though instability will be better further
east. Elsewhere, it will remain dry this afternoon. After the sun
sets, and showers that can develop will end. After that, a dry
forecast is expected through at least midweek as the shortwave exits
and riding moves into. Temperatures will climb as heights rise with
temperatures peaking on Wednesday as the climb 8-12 degrees above
normal.

After Wednesday, another system will impact the region and bring
cooling temperatures and increasing winds Thursday through Saturday.
Precipitation chances will also increase Friday and/or Saturday.
Fortunately, the cutoff low scenario is more favorable for
precipitation in our area, especially if the low can position itself
near San Diego and/or move overhead. The latest forecast has
increased precipitation chances on Saturday with widespread 30%-50%
chances across the region with higher chances in the terrain. Would
not be surprised to see a few thunderstorms as well if the upper-
level low passes overhead.

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 00Z Forecast Package...Winds
should follow typical daily directional patterns through the
forecast period. Although wind speeds are expected to stay less than
10 knots through most of the forecast period, there is a 20 percent
probability of winds reaching over 10 knots out of the southeast
through around 03Z, depending on whether outflow winds from storms
over Arizona reach the Las Vegas Valley. Skies gradually clear
through the rest of the afternoon and evening.

For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast
California...For the 00Z Forecast Package...Winds should generally
follow typical daily directional patterns with speeds of less than
10 knots throughout the forecast period. There is a moderate chance
in the Colorado River Valley and a low chance in the Las Vegas
Valley of increased southeasterly winds originating from storms over
Arizona this afternoon and evening. Another exception is the western
Mojave Desert including KDAG, where westerly gusts over 20 knots
persist through the rest of today and tonight, weakening tomorrow.
Mid and high cloud cover will gradually decrease through the
afternoon and evening.
