.DISCUSSION...

Colder air aloft and daytime heating will maintain isolated rain and
snow showers this afternoon south of I-80, especially in the E
Sierra south of Tahoe and the W NV Basin and Range. Elsewhere, today
will be a much drier day with passing low clouds and cool
temperatures. Pockets of freezing fog will likely develop tonight
across Sierra and NE CA valleys, reducing visibilities and
creating slick roads in time for the Monday AM commute. The rest
of Monday will be dry with daytime highs warming to the 50s.

An eastern Pacific low will quickly pass through the region on
Tuesday, increasing winds and shower chances as it does so. Ridge
winds first respond to the approaching low, with S/SW gusts reaching
60-80 mph at times Tuesday morning. With time, winds will mix down
to E Sierra valleys and far W Nevada where S/SW gusts reach 25-35
mph -- locally up to 40 mph in wind-prone locales. Shower chances
increase to 40-60% along the Sierra Tuesday afternoon with lesser
chance (30% or less) elsewhere. Accumulations are leaning on the
lighter side as showers appear to be shadowed out, limiting highest
totals near and west of the Sierra crest from Tahoe northward. Snow
totals follow suit, although light accumulations (of a trace to
1") may present minor travel disruptions along Donner Pass
Tuesday evening.

After Tuesday, ensembles remain keen on a several day stint of dry
and mild weather leading up to Veteran`s Day. A couple trough
passages to the north may produce occasional breezy periods during
this times, but nothing too significant. There is still a consistent
signal for a windier and wetter pattern to emerge around and after
Veteran`s Day, so certainty worth keeping in mind if you have travel
or outdoor plans around the middle of the month.

.AVIATION...

Isolated showers may occasionally pass over airfields -- KMEV, KTVL,
KMMH have the best chances of 20-30% -- which may briefly reduce
CIGS/VIS to MVFR conditions at KMEV and MVFR/IFR conditions at KTVL-
KMMH. Otherwise, low clouds and periods of mountain obscuration will
remain a concern for all terminals.

FZFG and periods of IFR conditions will be possible overnight at
KTRK and KTVL (lesser likelihood), particularly between 06Z and 16Z.
Elsewhere, VFR conditions prevail Monday.
