.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 135 AM CDT Mon Apr 6 2026

Light winds were noted early this Mon morning as SFC high pressure
settles across the region. Temps would normally drop considerably as
a result...but some mid/high level clouds were lifting NERLY over
portions of the state...keeping temps mainly in the 40s and 50s. Dry
conditions are continuing.

The SFC high will dissipate and/or shift east by tonight and
especially by late Tue...with SRLY flow returning mid-week. Temps
today and Tue will be mainly in the 60s and 70s for highs...with dry
conditions persisting.

By Wed...an upper shortwave will pass east over the region...with
SRLY flow increasing. This will allow for increasing moisture...and
some increase rain chances forecast as a result late Wed into Thu.
However...only some low end POPs are forecast...with limited precip
expected.

By late in the week into the weekend...flow aloft will become more
SWRLY and intensify. SRLY SFC flow will increase...along with
moisture levels and temps by the weekend. A new upper shortwave will
begin lifting NE from the 4-Corners region towards the Plains by
late in the forecast. Chances for convection will increase as a
result. However...the threat for any SVR convection looks uncertain
this far out in time due to uncertainty in the trajectory/timing of
the upper shortwave late in the forecast.
